For many teenagers, tennis isn’t just a hobby. It’s their life. Junior tennis players will practice every single day to better their skills and win competitions, dreaming of careers as professional tennis players known around the world. They can make lofty goals for themselves, but how will they be able to practice tennis as much as they can and still get a good education?

These young athletes have rigorous and time-consuming schedules. Because tennis is so much a part of their lives, they can’t skip out on it. However, they can’t skip out on their education either, so many opt for homeschooling and distance learning. This will enable them to study on their own schedule, not letting school get in the way of tennis or vice versa.

To be more specific, many junior tennis players decide to do homeschooling through an accredited independent study school, particularly Laurel Springs, which is known for its many top athletes.

Laurel Springs, which is based in Ojai, California, has professional teachers who stay in close contact with their students and guide them through lessons. This takes off the pressure for parents, who might otherwise feel as if their child’s entire education rests on their shoulders. Rather than have parents worry they’re not up to the task of teaching certain subjects, they can turn to Laurel Springs and get help from proficient educators. Education is done one-on-one, teacher-to-student, through email, letters or phone calls. Because it has the full accreditation of any private school, there are no worries of colleges not accepting Laurel Springs graduates.

Distant learning and tennis are a perfect match for many students. Teachers encourage their pupils to be creative in how they learn, and let them go through their lessons at the speed they wish. If a junior tennis player is especially busy with sports one week, he or she can catch up the next week, or when time allows, without an issue. They can also go through their classes more quickly than otherwise, graduating early and opening up more time for tennis. And since Laurel Springs is such a well-respected school, the sky is the limit on what their college choices are.

It also can be noted how easy it is for students to access their grades. In order to play in a tournament, a junior tennis player must show his or her grades. All a Laurel Springs student has to do is go online to show their scores in all their classes. There’s no worry about making sure they get a grade sheet in time, because their grades can be accessed at any time of the day.

Playing junior tennis may be exacting, but any teenager involved with it can also tell how rewarding it is. Through a distance learning school like Laurel Springs, these teen athletes get to follow their dreams and get a topnotch education, all at their own pace and their own schedule. This is definitely a winning strategy.
